Cookie Policy
Last updated August 23, 2026. What we store in your browser, and how to control it.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Nitshield also uses browser local storage, which works the same way for the purposes of this policy: it keeps small pieces of information on your device between visits. Some of this storage is set by Nitshield itself, and some may be set by third-party services we use, such as our authentication provider, our analytics provider or, where advertising is enabled, an advertising provider.
This policy describes the categories of cookies and similar technologies that may be used on this website, why they are used, and how you can control them.
2. Essential cookies and storage
These are required for the site to work and cannot be turned off. They include:
- Authentication session. Set by our authentication provider (Supabase) to keep you signed in and to protect your account.
- Theme preference. Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme.
- Cookie choice. Stores the consent decision you made, so we don’t ask again on every page.
- Draft work. Resume, cover letter and scan drafts saved locally in your browser so you don’t lose progress.
Because these are needed to deliver the site and the features you request, they are active regardless of your analytics choice. Blocking them in your browser may sign you out or break parts of the site.
3. Analytics cookies
If — and only if — you accept analytics cookies, we load Google Analytics 4 (GA4), provided by Google. GA4 sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_<container-id> to distinguish visitors and sessions.
We use GA4 to see aggregate information: which pages and tools are used, how visitors arrive at the site, rough geographic region and device type. We do not send your name, email, resume content or scan text to Google Analytics.
If you choose “Essential only”, the Google Analytics script is never added to the page, so no GA4 cookie is created and no data is sent to Google.
4. Advertising cookies
Nitshield may use third-party advertising services, including Google advertising services, when advertising is enabled on this website. Where advertising services are enabled, those providers may use cookies or similar technologies for purposes such as:
- delivering advertisements;
- measuring advertising performance;
- limiting how often the same advertisement is shown (frequency management);
- personalising advertisements where this is permitted; and
- detecting invalid activity, fraud and security abuse.
Advertising cookies are not currently active on this website, and we do not list specific advertising cookie names or lifetimes because that would depend on the provider and configuration in use at the time. If advertising is enabled in future, this policy and the cookie settings will be updated to reflect what is actually used, and consent will be requested where required by applicable law.
Whether advertising cookies are used at all, and whether advertisements are personalised, can depend on your location, applicable law, the consent choices you make, your browser or device settings, and how the advertising service is configured.
5. Preference and functionality cookies
Preference storage remembers choices that make the site easier to use — for example your theme, the last resume template you worked on, or the state of a tool you were part-way through. On Nitshield these values are stored in your browser rather than being used to build a profile of you, and clearing your browser storage removes them.
6. How to manage cookies
Site cookie settings. Use the button below, or the “Cookie settings” link in the site footer, to review or change your choice at any time. It remains available after your first decision.
Consent controls. Turning analytics off stops further collection and clears the GA4 cookies we can access from this site. If advertising services are enabled in future, any consent required for advertising cookies will be handled through the same settings.
Browser controls. Your browser can block or delete cookies, block third-party cookies, or clear site data. Most browsers also offer a private or incognito mode. Note that blocking essential cookies may sign you out or break parts of the site.
7. Changes to this Cookie Policy
The cookies used on this website can change as the product changes or as third-party services are added, replaced or removed — including analytics and advertising services. When that happens we will update this policy and the “last updated” date above, and where the law requires it we will ask for your consent again.
